Jules Marie is the loving creation of Jules Hsu and Leah Marie Ball. Julie and Leah met while slinging sushi in Austin at an upbeat Japanese restaurant. They spent a majority of their downtime sketching out jewelry designs together, conjuring up business plans and anxiously pacing until the chance to create the latest intrigue. After taking a few classes together they realized it was love at first cut, solder & polish, and decided to create Jules Marie.
The duo take their inspiration from the past lore of amulets and treasures. Each piece utilizes shapes and stones that reflect a protective quality. The designs are inspired by the feminine, magical, timeless and exotic. They love to mix metals and finishes to add dimensions to the simple shapes.
Julie's love affair with jewelry began with a green Jade bracelet from her grandmother. From then on, she spent countless hours in her mother and grandmother’s jewelry boxes fantasizing about the history of each piece. She draws her inspiration from her travels and natural surroundings and admits her most creative moments are found in new locations she visits.
Leah grew up as the oldest of four girls and has always sought ways to cherish and protect them. She was brought up in a household that treasured art and since a young age has lovingly followed that path, by both receiving a Design degree from UT and from her continued study in metalsmithing, her true passion.
